Serious Planning and Estimating is Now Underway.

We are starting our serious planning for our visit to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the surrounding National Forests and other natural areas in North Carolina and Tennessee. I have been working on this blog and our calendar today, getting it ready for viewing so you can enjoy following us on our trip.

According to our GARMIN nuvi navigation system, it looks like about 650 miles to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. That would be about 11 hours of driving, and a fuel cost of about $200 one way. (We get about 12 mpg in our RV and figure the fuel cost of regular unleaded gasoline at $4.05 per gallon. With about 300 miles of running around the area when we get there, we estimate a fuel cost of about $500 for the trip.
